2001 Alabama District Finals results April 21, 2001

In one of the closest Alabama District Finals finishes in recent years, Moffett Road A/G of Mobile has won the 2001 championship. They will advance to the Southeast Regionals in Centreville, Georgia, along with the team from First A/G of Dothan.

The tournament was held Saturday, April 21 at Montgomery First Assembly.

Moffett Road's team won the title in their first year of quizzing. Former Nationals quizzer Doug Mims coached the team, which was led by twin brothers Austin and Brandon Trippe. Dothan won their regionals berth in the first playoff game against Montgomery First (which is coached by Doug Mims' brother, Daniel), then lost to Moffett Road in the playoff finals.

Jennifer Stewart of Montgomery led all individual scorers, with the first three places separated by only ten points.

**Placed third after losing first playoff game to Dothan.
