Final: Colorado Springs clinches championship
David Dorey wins record fourth title, topindividual scorer and Individual Tournament;
Fort Myers beats Florida rival in Challenger Division title playoff

Church at Briargate of Colorado Springs, CO has won the 2004 Teen Bible Quiz National Championship, its second title in four years. Colorado Springs clinched the crown in Wednesday's last round, and ended the tournament with 17 wins and two losses. First A/G of Lexington, KY defeated Grace A/G of Spring City, PA in a playoff for second place.

The title gives Briargate captain David Dorey a personal record -- he is the first person to quiz on four national champion teams, having been a member of all three title teams from Orange Hills A/G of Orange, CA. He also saw a personal winning streak come to an end, as a defeat by Spring City came after Dorey's teams had won 57 straight "Final 40" games, dating all the way back to the 2001 Finals. Dorey's Orange Hills teams were undefeated in both 2002 and 2003. Ironically, his last loss came during a Finals that was won by Colorado Springs, featuring a captain (Jordan Schneider) who now is his coach. Dorey is also in the lead for individual honors, having quizzed out in every game but one -- their only loss. Dorey walked away with top individual honors, scoring 2,595 points in 19 games (136.57 ppg) with 17 quiz outs and a single strike out. Dorey also won the Individual Tournament over Brian Lewis of Calvary Temple of Indianapolis, with Briargate teammate Molly Pace winning third place.

In the Challenger Division, First A/G of Fort Myers, FL beat out in-state rival Oceanway A/G of Jacksonville, FL in a playoff game for the title. The two teams ties with 16-3 records after round-robin play. First A/G of Hermitage, PA was third.
